Fight for your right to party by Beastie Boys, what a classic. Now, party it is an interesting subject specially for me now after divorce. Having said that, I had to see what was my relationship with party.
Then I remember when I was the peak of my party days at 23 years I decided to quit everything and became an athlete. The journey of becoming an athlete was a joyful party. The sport I chose was triathlon, and that made me feel like a kid again. I made me feel alive. That was definitely a party, and a good one.
Now, at 45 recently divorced, I came to the realization that life itself is the party. The journey of the soul it is a party itself. Now, what makes a good party is the connection. The connection with your true self, your authenticity. Party for me now at 45 it is skateboarding and playing music. That is my life party now.
The reality is, not everyone will like your authenticity and it is super easy to let yourself go just to fit in. I am definitely guilty of that. Often in times we do that out of fear, I know I did, and I paid the price for years with my physical health.
One thing I did learn in this life, is fighting that fear, reconnecting to your true self and authentic it is so worth it! For me starts with self love, because perfect love dispels fear and that will make life magical party.
Enjoy,
Richard, the divorce dude.
